Our Hobart, IN, dentist is proud to offer same-day crowns. Unlike traditional crowns that are made in off-site dental labs, our dentist can design, create, and place a CEREC crown in one appointment. This means less time in the dental chair for us to restore your tooth to its natural strength and appearance.

CEREC Crown Procedure Dentists Hobart IN

Here’s what you can expect during the CEREC crown procedure.

Initial Same-Day Crown Consultation

First, our local same-day crown dentist will need to determine if you’re a candidate for this type of restoration. In general, you may be a candidate for a dental crown if you have a tooth with significant injury or decay. For small cavities, our dentist may recommend the filling procedure to restore your smile.

Our dentist uses dental crowns to:

  • Restore a cracked or chipped tooth
  • Restore a tooth with significant decay
  • Strengthen a tooth with a large filling
  • Hold a dental bridge in place
  • Cover a dental implant
  • Restore a tooth after root canal therapy
  • Cover a misshapen or severely discolored tooth

Since each patient is different, it’s important that you meet with our dentist so you can receive a custom treatment plan that’s tailored to your unique needs. It isn’t until after we’ve thoroughly examined your smile that we’ll be able to determine if a single-visit dental crown is the right choice.

Preparing Your Tooth for a Dental Crown

Next, our dentist will file down and shape your tooth so it’s ready to receive the CEREC dental crown. Once the tooth is prepared, we’ll take digital dental impressions of your smile. These impressions are then sent to our computer where our dentist will be able to design your new dental crown.

How Is a CEREC Crown Made?

Once the design is ready, our dentist will send it to the milling machine in our office. From there, your tooth will be fabricated from a block of ceramic that best matches the color of your natural enamel.

Since we’re able to design and fabricate dental crowns under our own roof, we’re not dependent on a third-party lab. Instead, we can plan and place your new CEREC dental crown in one visit to our office.

One of the benefits of a same-day crown is that you’re able to avoid needing a temporary crown. This eliminates the typical waiting period between preparing your tooth for the procedure and same-day crown placement.

Dental Crown Placement

When the milling machine is done carving out your new crown, our dentist will fit it over your tooth to ensure it’s the proper size, shape, and color. That way, your new CEREC crown will look natural and blend in with the rest of your smile. Once our dentist is satisfied with how the crown fits and looks, they’ll cement it onto your tooth. They’ll also check your bite and make any necessary final adjustments to ensure a comfortable fit.

How Do I Care For a Same-Day Crown?

Getting a dental crown in one day doesn’t mean oral care is out the window. Once you’re done with your appointment, it’s important that you continue brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing daily. We also recommend coming into our Hobart, IN, dental office for a professional teeth cleaning every 6 months.

A CEREC crown will last several years with proper care, which is why it’s also important that you continue scheduling appointments with Ridgewood Dental PC for preventive care.
